What are the benefits of permanent residence? Permanent residence permit is a document which confirms Your permanent residence address in Poland. The permit is issued for a period of 5 or 10 years. Of course, after the permit becomes invalid You can always extend its period of validity. If You want to apply for a permanent residence – You should submit an application for granting a permit for a permanent residence, personally during Your legal stay in Poland. Types of permits for a long-term residence in Poland:
This permit authorizes You to permanently reside in Poland. The decision in case of granting a permit for a stay is issued for indefinite period of time, but the residence card itself is valid for 5 years, what means, that every five years You have to exchange the card. Basing on European Union long-term residence permit issued in Poland You have a right to work only in the territory of the Republic of Poland (You cannot undertake a job in other Schengen area countries).
Similar as in the case of European Union long-term residence permit –this document also gives You a right to reside permanently and legally in Poland. The decision about granting the permanent residence permit is issued for indefinite period of time, but the card itself is valid for 10 years, what means, that every 10 years it is necessary to exchange this card.
Permit for permanent residence in Poland does not give You a right to undertake a job in any other European Union country. Basing on the permit that allows a permanent residence in Poland, You have a right to travel to any other Schengen area countries for the purpose of tourism. Then – besides a valid residence card – You will also need a valid foreign passport and insurance which covers the costs of healthcare in a country You wish to visit.
